Ning ble etablert som ensemble i 1997 og skapte sceniske verk frem til 2016. Fysiske, teatrale og visuelle aspekter ved musikalsk fremføring ble vektlagt i arbeidene, i samarbeid med komponister, skuespillere, koreografer og regissører. Helt sentralt sto musikernes skapende rolle i interdisiplinære samarbeid.

I denne utgivelsen synliggjøres deler av arkivet etter Ning. Samtidig reflekterer ensemblet rundt egen kollektiv kunstnerisk praksis, i dialog med inviterte skribenters undersøkelser i lys av historiske og kunstneriske kontekster.

Hver bok er unik og inneholder fysiske fragmenter av Nings arkiv: bilder, noter, tekster og annet arkivmateriale.

The ensemble Ning was established 1997 and created stage works until 2016. In all its projects, tha physical, theatrical, and visual aspects of musical performance were emphsised, through collaborations with composers, actors, choreographers , and directors. A key focus was the creative role og the musicians within these interdisciplinary collaborations.

This publication highlights parts of the Ning archive. The ensemble reflects on its own collective artistic practice, in dialogue with research from invited writers, considered in light of historical and artistic contexts.

Each book is unique containing physical fragments of Ning’s archive: photos, sheet music, texts and other archived material.
